Background
There has
been
renewed interest in the corporate governance practices of modern
corporations for the past few years, particularly due to the
high-profile collapses of a number of large
firms all over the world such as Enron Corporation, Parmalat and
World.com.
Accounting
(Corporate) and political scandals in relation to public
agencies arising from disclosure of misdeeds by trusted
executives in large private and public entities have reignited
debates over the relative merits of current accounting practices
among private and public entities.
In the wake
of recent scrutiny
for questionable
accounting
practices,
there is an
increasing awareness on global issues affecting both local and
international business.
Consequently,
there is
a need for deeper understanding on issues and challenges
in order to determine potential impact on stakeholders. This will also
ensure strategic decision for maintaining business competitive
edge.
Conference Objectives

To create a formal
platform for presenting, discussing and debating current governance
issues that may affect the way organization operate;

To establish
linkages between academicians and practitioners in the public and
private sectors;

To inculcate
research culture among academicians and practitioners; and
